The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons …
The university has always attracted me as I am both a professional and vocational teacher.
I started my teaching career during my specialty training in ophthalmology at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid , Fundacion Jimenez Diaz. From there in my initial post as assistant professor of practical cases I began a career that led me gradually become an assistant professor at the University of Salamanca , professor at the University of Salamanca , finally to obtain the Chair of Ophthalmology in the year 1985 ( at the age of 32 at the time) , at the University of Alicante. With the move of the Faculty of Medicine from the University of Alicante to the newly created Miguel Hernandez de Elche, I now work for this university in the School of Medicine , Department of Pathology and Surgery in campus of San Juan de Alicante.
I also participate in international university projects such as the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis ( where I hold chair LXIII ) , the European Academy of Ophthalmology ( chair XLIX ) and I am also a visiting professor at universities such as Louisiana State University, University of Havana , Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital, John Hopkins University Medical School, Wilmer Institute, among others.
I work with a large number of scientific societies in developing postgraduate training courses such as the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology , International Society of Refractive Surgery, European Network of Clinical Research centers ( EVICR.net ) , Spanish Society of Ophthalmology and ASETCIRC ( Spanish Association of implant technology and refractive surgery and cornea ) among several others .
At this time, I hold the chair of ophthalmology at the Miguel Hernandez University and I am director of the university Master in clinical and surgical research of the Pathology and Surgery Department , whose mission is to facilitate access to professional doctoral graduates in health sciences, in particular graduates in medicine and surgery , as well as fomenting training for those interested in biomedical research in surgery and its subspecialties, and in particular in ophthalmology.
