JorgeAlio1When the first online course “Clinical Methodology in Refractive, Cataract and Corneal Surgery” taught by Dr. Jorge Alió started there were many students from all over the world, who were very interested in it. The first edition of the course had 51 registered students and it will be officially finished on September 15. The course, taught by an academic of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Valencia (RAMCV), has captured students from different countries, such as Jordan, Jamaica, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Romania, Israel and Egypt, among many others. Moreover, many requests for information are received every day, as this course is a novelty and there is no any similar course worldwide.

This course is taught by professor and chairman of ophthalmology at the Miguel Hernandez University of Elche in English, but it will be also translated into Chinese. The translation will have been finished in two years, due to the difficulty connected to the local academic culture adaptation. This will be possible thanks to the agreement signed between the Miguel Hernandez University of Elche and the Wenzhou Medical University in China, which was promoted by the fact that Jorge Alió was ranked tenth among the world’s most influential ophthalmologists. The list of 100 professionals, entitled “The  Power List 2016”, was drawn up by the British magazine ‘The Ophthalmologist’, one of the most prestigious publications in the field. Thus, Jorge Alió was the first representative of this academic institution, who is materializing the agreement giving the first online course of lectures on refractive surgery titled “Clinical methodology in refractive, cataract and corneal surgery”.

Currently, 10 students out of 51 are involved in the elaboration of diploma thesis. Registration period for the second edition of the course started on June 6 and there are already seven registered students. A lot of students are expected to be registered during these months, because of the continuing registration period until November.
