xxxiii-escrs-congress-barselona-2015The XXXIII European Congress of the ESCRS, in which Jorge Alio and his scientific team are going to participate, officially begins tomorrow in Barcelona.

This weekend Barcelona will become the European capital of ophthalmology, hosting the XXXIII European Congress of the ESCRS (European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons). The latest advances in the treatment of cataracts and other vision-related diseases, such as presbyopia, nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism, will be presented there.  Dr. Jorge Alio, Professor and Chairman of Ophthalmology in the UMH, along with his scientific team will participate in various meetings in this prestigious European gathering on cataract and refractive surgery.

Jorge Alio will meet with the most competent Spanish and international ophthalmologists and more than 6,000 specialists in cataract and refractive surgery from around the world. During the conference week Dr. Alio, who has performed more than 40,000 surgeries during his surgical career, will speak at major meetings devoted to clinical research. This Congres will also feature an exhibition space where new technologies in lenses and new techniques, such as laser, will be presented.

In spite of the fact that the official opening day of this important event is tomorrow (Saturday,  September 5th), Dr. Jorge Alio and his team will start their participation today (Friday, September 4th)  in a preliminary meeting  “EU Congress » with a presentation of several posters. Moreover, they will form a part of the joint session of ICOI / ESCRS: “Update on Parasitic Keratitis”, later they will participate in a mini symposium “Collagen Crosslinking for Infectious Keratitis” and the panel interactive discussion “Practical Approach to Common Ocular Infectious Syndromes”.

The conference is organized by the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), a leading European company of anterior segment surgeons, and this year it takes place in Barcelona.
